Meeting overview
Kicking off the meeting, DeepBlue provided an overview of the R1.A1 – Extraction of Key Elements & Products from the Ecolife Project. This activity consisted in reviewing the materials and results from EcoLife+ project, a previous EU project focusing in improving communication of climate change and environmental issues related to global warming. DBL extracted relevant content from Ecolife+ project, in addition to integrate also topic-related material from other EU initiatives, as well as international organisations that are active in sustainability, environmental protection and climate change awareness.
Then, it was CTI’s turn to give a review of the R1.A2 – Definition of Citizenship Competencies in the Context of Climate Change. In R1.A2, CTI identified the citizenship competences, and also the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and abilities that are related to understand the current climate crisis, raise awareness on individual climate footprint, and enable not only students, but also their families and local communities, to choose more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyles.
Following CTI’s presentation, Consorzio Ro.Ma (leading partner for R1.A3 – Collection of Stakeholder Feedback & Validation of the Set of Activities) gave instructions on how to conduct the meetings with parents, teachers and school staff. Besides from presenting CHOICE to its main stakeholders, these meetings aim at gathering feedback on the project’s activities and have the first insights on the CHOICE’s Educational Paths, which compose the Set of Citizenship educational activities on Climate Change, the main result of the project. In this regard, Giordano Bruno, 16th Dimotiko Larissas and TEK Ortaokulu presented results of their R1.A3 meetings while providing some suggestions and tips to the partner schools which haven’t conducted the activity yet on how to best lead the stakeholder meeting.
Finally, DBL introduced to the partner the next project activity – R1.A4 – Detailed planning of the Set of Citizenship Education Activities on Climate Change. This phase will be one of the most important for CHOICE: taken the results from the relevant Citizenship competences’ identification and the stakeholders’ feedback collection, partners will adapt the Educational Paths to better aim at the project’s objectives.
During the other work session, Dissemination Leader SPJP briefed to the Consortium on the project’s dissemination activities: the project’s website, CHOICE Instagram and Facebook pages, the partners’ dissemination activities and related reports. Moreover, SPJP presented the CHOICE Newsletter, where the project will be posting regular updates on its activities and events, besides the project’s progress. Afterwards, Consorzio Ro.Ma dealt with the monitoring and quality evaluation of the project, sharing tools and methodologies necessary to grant high-quality and effectiveness to the CHOICE activities.
The meeting in Larissa was very fruitful, the Consortium gained a better understanding of the project, while meeting in person allowed the partners not only to meet and get to know each other, but also better coordinate among themselves and fine-tune the work done within CHOICE.
